The Lea Extreme Race – Tasmania

Australia’s premiere extreme kayaking race is on again for 2022!  Warm Up the night before at the Australian Wildwater Film Festival, Forth Town Hall 7pm.

Hosted by the Tasmanian Canoe Club, the 2022 Lea Extreme Race will be held on Saturday the 17th of September.

All monies raised are used by the TCC to help further the sport of whitewater kayaking in Tasmania.

Nestled in the foothills of Cradle Mountain, the Lea River provides natural flows down grade 4 rapids leading into Lake Gairdiner.

Participants will race in teams of 2, with the team with the fastest time the winner.  As well as the Open category, there will be female, mixed and centurion (combined team age over 100) categories if sufficient entries.  The second lap will be a social freestyle exhibition – paddlers making their moves on river drops.

Due to the dangerous nature of whitewater kayaking, participants must have paddled the river before and be competent in class 4 whitewater.

Registration will open at 9am, with race briefing starting at 10:30am.

Presentations, dinner and after party will take place at Forth Whitewater, home of Tasmanian Canoe Club , where there is plenty of room to camp and enjoy the night socialising, listening to live music and eating hot food around the campfires.

Ticket price includes race entry, dinner and live music at the afterparty, plus entry in the prize draw and camping.  All entrants must either be a paid up member of a Paddle Australia affiliated club or pay for insurance with their entry.

Non racers are very welcome to come to the presentation and dinner but pay separately for dinner and camping.

Clothing orders close August 13th for Beanies, Ts and Hoodies along iwth Verty Early Bird Entry.  Find information regarding race entry:  https://paddleaustralia.justgo.com/workbench/public/events?ref=526163C7D7325CD3A555AF24DC076D085BBF76C4
