Tasmanian Canoe Club Championships

The Tasmanian Canoe Club Wildwater and Rapid Sprint Championships were held in perfect Autumn conditions on Saturday, with some rain appearing to slightly dampen the slalom on Sunday.

Ben Maynard left the wildwater field floundering in his wake as he finished one and a half minutes ahead of his nearest rival. Ben headed off two days later to the World Wildwater Championships in Italy. Junior paddlers Ruby Hodgetts and Jake Pierce showed improvement, with much faster finishes and greater determination.

In the slalom event, junior paddler Andrew Eckhardt showed his significant improvement by posting the best slalom results.

The next event is the Tasmanian Schools Championships on May 17-18 at the Forth River Course.
